You don’t have to be an expert to be wise.

But you do have to be teachable.

“Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates reproof is stupid.”
Proverbs 12:1 (ESV)

Yes, the Bible just said “stupid.”

Correction doesn’t feel good. It wounds your pride.

And that’s exactly the point. Pride is the greatest enemy of wisdom.

You can have great theology, great ambition, even great character—but if no one can correct you?

You’re a fool in the making.

Wise people don’t just tolerate correction—they invite it.

Oof. That’s a hard pill to swallow.

They’ve trained themselves to listen before defending, reflect before reacting, and pray before pushing back.

That’s maturity.

Wisdom is about being formed… Not “right.”

If you always have to explain yourself… defend yourself… be “misunderstood”…

You might be choosing pride over growth.

So here’s your challenge this week:

Ask someone who knows you:

“Where do you think I need to grow most right now?”

Don’t justify. Don’t explain. Just listen.

That moment might sting.

But there might be some wisdom in what the other person has to say if you let him.
