You read that right.

It feels weird saying it.

Yesterday morning I woke up to an alarming notification when I opened Instagram.

As you may know, I make content about the Bible mainly…

And there’s only 1 really big change I made to my content in the last few days — I made a video on Islam.

In particular…

The “Qur’anic Dilemma.”

I used it as an avenue to show my thoughts on a reason I believe Islam to be false.

Naturally, this angered a lot of Muslims in my comments.

I heard from other people messaging me that my account was likely mass-reported — leading to the suspension.

This is my account below — this is what it is supposed to look like:

I received a screenshot that showed this instead:

No one could access my videos, and no one could see my new videos…

I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous — but deep down I know that God is working things out for good (Rom 8:28)

I sent in an appeal:

And fortunately, Instagram reinstated my account!

Hooray!

Except it’s not that simple…

I still received this screenshot from a follower after this took place:

If you’ll notice… Where it says “Instagram User” it is supposed to say my name, “Nils.”

And there’s a term on social media called “shadow banning” that tends to happen to creators who get their accounts suspended like this.

Instagram won’t “hide” my account, but they will SEVERELY hurt my reach and stop showing my videos to followers and to new people…

Which I think can be demonstrated by this screenshot of my most recent video getting 3000 views in all of yesterday (which is MASSIVELY low compared my other ones)

So something a little bit strange is going on — and this is a problem.

Especially if your goal is to reach people with 1. the Gospel and 2. Teach them fun things about the Bible (Which my goals are!)

I am making videos preaching the Gospel, and explaining the Bible to thousands/millions of people a month, but when I offer one slight criticism to Islam I get my account threatened to be permanently deleted.

(I can’t confirm that is the reason, but I have no better guess at the moment, and Instagram won’t tell me the reason.)

Christianity, the Bible, and Jesus are EXCLUSIVE.

Either there is 1 way to God and life, or there are no ways to God and life.

And Jesus’ claim is exclusive when He said that in John 14:6.

What does this mean?

It means that because this happened once, it is likely going to happen again — and when it does, it might not be as easy to get my platform back — or at all, ever.

That being said, if there ever was a time you’ve maybe wanted to support what I am doing, now would be the time!
