I need your assistance - I need to know what you call you as BibleMate member.

Do I call you the BibleMate Bunch? The.. BibleMate Buddies? A BibleMater?

I’m not good at this…

So, if you have a better idea on what this community should be referred to as a whole and on an individual level… Let me know.

Reply to this email and I’ll personally respond to you. Yep, even if it’s bad.

No judgement here!

Anyways, let’s get into it.

  1. Let Scripture Interpret Scripture! What does that even mean? It means relying on clear teachings of the Bible to understand those HARD and more challenging passages. Take for example, turning the other cheek (Matthew 5:39) can be better understood through Paul’s words in Romans 12:19-21 talking about not overcoming evil with evil, but overcoming evil with good.

  2. 'pneuma' (πνεῦμα): A Greek word primarily used for The Holy Spirit! It encompasses this idea of breath, wind, and spirit. A similar word used in the OT, ‘ruach’ conveys God’s breath or the wind of God’s presence. Neat.

  3. The Teleological Argument for God:

    1. The natural world, though complex, shows purposeful order

    2. Such order and purpose imply the existence of an intelligent designer

    3. Therefore, there must be a God who sustains the natural world

“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”

Colossians 3:23

It isn’t always easy to want to do things we don’t want to do.

Do I always want to do the dishes after I’m done eating? Do I, at any point of my life, ever, for any reason, want to mow the lawn? No I do not.

But there’s something that is convicting about this verse, especially in my life when there are things that I need to do, that I do not want to do

What about your job? Are you working ‘just enough’ as to not get fired?

Are you taking ‘extra-long’ breaks when your boss isn’t looking?

That was something that I struggled with personally.

Sometimes, we as Christians need to understand that the work we do, highlighted by this verse, is for God. And not only work, but anything we may choose to do.

Let us put our best foot forward, and give our best effort in our different areas of life, not because people who have authority over us tell us to, but because we are serving Christ through working, and doing life for Him.

And we are promised, that we will receive the inheritance as our reward.

A promise of eternal life in heaven with God, the forgiveness of sins, peace, joy, and the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
